![]() | John spent 28 years in the metal fabrication business, first machining then designing offset printing presses. His love of blacksmithing began with cable damascus patch knives for the blackpowder rifle shooters in the early 1980's. After years of 'smithing as a hobby, his wonderful wife Joy convinced him to open his own shop and begin a full time business. The dream has come true and together they are creating one of a kind heirlooms for their clients. John has been tracing his ancestry, which led to a trip to Nova Scotia in 2003. In the Hall of Archives in Halifax is recorded the first land grant to a John Buchanan near the city of Beddack, NS and with the help of the folks at St. Ann's Hall of Records we now have a link to Clan Buchanan of Scotland. Which turns out to be the first clan to form under the Great Hall of the Clans. We are hoping to make another trip and find some of the history of the first clan members after their arrival in Nova Scotia. It appears that decendants moved first to Boston then the Carolinas and Tennesse. The search goes on. Meanwhile you can read more about Clan Buchanan here. |
